At Danebank we continually assess and research new technologies and evaluate their application for our girls. Our Bring Your Own (BYO) iPad program has been a great success and the iPad was the obvious device choice when the program started in 2012. Since then there have been many developments in both hardware and software that require a re-appraisal of the most effective way to serve your daughter’s ongoing technological needs.
From 2017 onwards, your daughter is still permitted to use her iPad as a primary device however we encourage any new device purchases to follow our new minimum device requirements. By 2019, her iPad will no longer be sufficient to meet the technological requirements for her learning and she will not be able to use this as a primary device.
You can use our preferred supplier’s online purchasing portal to assist you in purchasing a new device. This will make it easy to make your selection along with any optional accessories and insurance. We have negotiated special education pricing on this portal on your behalf, however you are always welcome to shop elsewhere if you prefer, provided your device meets the minimum requirements.
Minimum Device Requirements:
- Weigh less than 2kg
- Battery life sufficient to last a school day
- Screen size between 11” and 15”
- i5 processor or equivalent
- 4GB RAM (8GB recommended)
- 128GB SSD storage (256GB recommended)
- Windows 7 and above, or Mac OS X 10.10 and above
The school will provide every student with the following software to meet her core educational needs:
- Google Apps Suite
- Microsoft Office 2016 and Office 365
- Adobe Creative Cloud
- Family Zone BYOD application
We hope that this new approach will help your daughters to become adaptive and innovative users of technology and develop key skills for the future.
